TED TALK: THE ORIGINS OF PLEASURE
“The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven.” - John Milton
Love that quote. Perception truly is everything, both for pleasure and pain, and it’s a lesson I learn over and over. Both when I’m creating any type of visuals/work and in everyday life experiences. Spending time developing that perception be it through meditation, conversations, new experiences, books, etc. is infinitely valuable. Worth watching.
VISUAL JOURNAL #5
Just developed a bunch of rolls of film from the last couple months. Here’s a few of the captures. The images with the smoke and flag were shot during the filming of a short film I have yet to release, more on that soon. In the meantime go listen to the newest James Blake and Iceage albums, all I’ve been pumping lately.
THINGS: IF APPLE MADE A MOTORCYCLE
I’ve actually wondered that to myself before: ‘what would a car or motorcycle look like if Apple made it?’ Well, this “DCB750” comes pretty damn close I’d say. Digital agency Instrument customized this CB750 to what you see here, but the most impressive part is the fact that the dashboard runs off an iPhone using a custom App they developed exclusively for this bike. This is absurd in the best way, possibly one of the better blends of analog/machine and digital I’ve seen in a long time. More details on Instrument’s Blog.
VISUAL JOURNAL #4: Zombie Boy Edition
Here are a few shots of Rico (A.K.A.) Zombie boy, him and his GF are probably some of nicest humans I’ve met in a while. Check out the final cover shot my buddy Joey captured on this shoot here. This coming month I’ll be working on a music video and merch for a good friend’s band who are doing their last U.S. tour, and some big changes & releases for Relic. Time to buckle down and get some work done!
VISUAL JOURNAL ENTRY #3
It’s been an eventful month, several shoots and new projects in the works… and oh yeah a hurricane. I feel pretty lucky since our hood wasn’t affected too much, and we never lost power. Though some good friends in the lower Manhattan are still without power, but most of them have migrated to Brooklyn in the meantime. In the downtime of the storm I was able to finish putting together some shots from the last month or so.

THINGS: FJÄLL RÄVEN RUCKSACK
Recently my main mode of transportation has been my motorcycle, which has proven to be the best way to get around NYC for me. I usually have a few things I need to carry with me so a good bag to ride with is key for me. If you know me at all I tend to obsess over these things, so I took a look at a ton of rucksacks and out of everything I saw out there this bag was by far the best blend of practicality and solid aesthetics. I’m able to just roll up my motorcycle cover and tuck it on the inside of the top flap, my lock fits perfectly in the front outside pocket, on the inside of the bag I can easily fit my laptop, a wacom tablet, books, a hat, my point and shoot camera, cables, snacks (crucial) and probably a small jacket or shirt if I needed it. Additionally I’ll probably be waxing this bag to make it completely water proof. Thanks ya Swedes! ( Fjall Raven Rucksack No. 21 Medium )
VISUAL JOURNAL ENTRY #2
I’ve been slacking on posts lately, so here are a few selects of my daily shots from the last two months or so. This summer was pretty wild, and though most people say it flew by I sort of felt the opposite. Oddly enough I’ve been looking forward to September, and to what this Fall holds. Good things to come.
INSTAGRAM ENTRY #2
Hot damn, summer is almost over and for those of you without Instagram here’s a few highlights. New motorcycle, rooftop parties, photo shoots, champagne, road trips and all with the best humans. If you do have Instagram follow this mess at @oscarzabala.
